Genomic data are a critical and sensible type of data, due to the demands related to legal regimentations and data privacy. Thus, it is urgent to develop methodologies and protocols that can ensure the storage of this type of data with maximum security. The Telecommunications Institute (IT) of Aveiro University, under the orientation of professor Armando Pinto, in the program Quantum Mining, developed a research project that had the aim of creating a System of Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) assisted by quantum cryptography to address this problematic. The system developed demonstrated to have a level of security and privacy significantly higher than other systems reported.

In the sequence of this project, the scientific article was published - “Private Computation of Phylogenetic Trees based on Quantum Technologies”.
